Maybe that's true. Maybe it's not.
But blogging is a way to get the word about something out there.
I saw the movie "Contagion" this past weekend. In it there was a character that used his blog to get the truth out to the people. He blogged about all the lies the government was telling and the truths they were hiding. He had something like 12 million followers that believed him and based whether they got a vaccine for a deadly disease or not on what he said. I believe that whether his blog was graffiti or writing, it was listened to.
Did you ever drive under a bridge and stop to read a novel? Or political essay? No. You paid attention to the graffiti. Political, racial, social, educational, profanity. Whatever. You remember the graffiti, the emotion in it connects with you. That's why I think blogs are better than political essays and the BS the news and government feed us.
These are the images and thoughts that stay with us and that affect our daily lives more than essays and news articles. The messages we see out on the streets everyday affect more than some essay ever could.
If someone wrote an essay about a smart girl and tried to get the point across in that essay that smart girls are pretty and a few girls read it, great. But putting the point, right out there, exactly where girls are most vulnerable and in the place they would think the complete opposite is how minds are changed. That's the graffiti that is on the walls and on our hearts.
So blogging isn't just blogging, it IS graffiti. Graffiti on the internet. And graffiti on your brain.
So I dare you, not to go buy spray paint, but to start a blog. Whether you stick with it or not. Just start one.
